What is the difference between an energy assessment and an energy audit?

The short answer is - nothing. Both a Energy Save energy assessment and a Energy Save energy audit are a thorough examination of your home performance, using diagnostic home performance tools, computer modeling, imaging, and the latest in building science knowledge. The goal of a Energy Save home energy audit or home energy assessment is to locate the areas where your home could be saving energy, and pair the results with the lucrative rebates offered by Energy Save.

Are these Free energy assessments really free?

It’s true, you won’t pay us or a Energy Save contracting partner a service fee to receive a Free energy assessment at any point during the audit and to receive your results. So how can it be Free? You may have noticed on your gas and electric bills a small charge for ‘energy efficiency’.  This small charge helps fund the State Program. Since you’ve been paying into the Energy Save energy efficiency fund, why not take advantage of the benefits and schedule your home energy assessment today?

How long does a Free energy assessment take?

While some companies will offer 1.5 to 2-hour assessments, we prefer to allow our energy assessment technicians around three hours to complete each assessment. The more accurate your home energy assessment is, the more you'll know about how to make your home more energy efficient and explore all the energy-saving upgrades and rebates you may qualify for with the State Program!

What do I get with my Free energy assessment?

With each home energy assessment, we will provide you with:

  • Advanced power strips

  • Low-flow showerheads

  • Faucet aerators

  • Programmable thermostats or discounted wireless thermostats (installed at a second appointment)

You will also get a thorough rundown of your assessment results with your Mass Energy Experts Assessor.

What are the most common issues you find with homes in Massachusetts?

At Mass Energy Experts, we always take the approach that no two homes will be exactly alike. But because there are many historic homes throughout eastern Massachusetts, we find many homes are in need of similar home performance upgrades. Insulation and air sealing are very common upgrades, which is one of the reasons Energy Save provides these home insulation rebates and complimentary air sealing.

Am I eligible for the State Program?

If you are a homeowner, a renter, a landlord/property owner, you will qualify for Energy Save.  There are further discounted services based on your income level if you’re a resident in a 1-4 unit home.  All you need to do is select a Energy Save home performance contractor partner and schedule your Free home energy assessment to get started.

How much can I save with these Energy saving rebates?

The savings you will actually see from Energy Save will depend on your home’s energy needs. However, each home energy assessment comes with a complimentary air sealing service and a 75% off incentive for approved insulation upgrades. There is also $2,750 in available heating and cooling rebates, depending on your specific needs.

And it isn’t just the immediate savings you’ll see on the home energy upgrade project costs! Did you know that by properly air sealing and insulating a home, you could save up to 11% on your overall energy costs and 15% on your heating and cooling costs?
